BACKGROUND INFORMATION |
When did you start bodybuilding, and where? |
I first caught the bug in the late 80’s at the Rexburg, ID college gym. It was just a basic gym not anything fancy just the essential equipment needed: “meat & potatoes” stuff. |
Explain your training style and philosophy. |
Bodybuilding is a sprint not a marathon - so get in, do it hard and get out. 45 minutes to an hour- tops- lifting per day. Bodybuilding is synergistic lifestyle; you can’t just do one thing and expect great results. Proper balanced diet, heavy lifting, stretching and plenty of rest must be utilized for maximum results. |
Favorite body part to train? |
No surprise- I’d have to say chest. I love the pumps I get with them! |
Least favorite? |
If I had to pick it would be legs though I don’t mind doing them. They make me feel sick! I get nervous just thinking about the workout. |
What supplements do you take?. |
Extreme Labs 92 Extreme Protein, Extreme Labs Methyl Tren Depot and Halo- Test Depot, Extreme labs Nitro Extreme, full throttle & Cell Max, whole food based “Juice Plus” multi-vitamins: fruit and veggie blends, fish oil, flax seed oil, colloidal minerals, and L-glutamine. |
What is your precontest diet like? |
300 grams protein, 150 grams complex carbs and 30 grams fat daily.
Protein source from chicken breast, tuna, rice & beans, and egg whites. Carbs from oatmeal, whole grain breads and green veggies. |
What is the hardest part of precontest? |
Daily double cardio! I work 12.5 hour days & the last thing I want to do is get up early and stay up late to do cardio! |
| How do you deal with it? |
I grew up skinny (I started weight training at 130 lbs!!) –I couldn’t stand it when people made comments on how small I was. Those memories are a great motivator to keep me going. Plus, I love the challenge to continually improve myself. |
| What is the first thing you want to eat after a show? |
This may sound crazy but I love Breyer’s chocolate ice cream with Cocoa Pebbles, milk and whip cream. My invention! |
Best nutrition tip? |
Eat a clean, balanced diet – the best way to do this is to plan it out & then prepare the food so it’s ready to eat when you need it. Just like the saying goes: “If you fail to plan, then plan to fail” |
Do you have a trainer or coach? |
No, but I have an excellent support team – House of Bodybuilding and Extreme Labs. |
Who do you admire in the bodybuilding world? |
Lee Haney, Rich Gaspari, Troy Alves, Jay Cutler, and (of course) Arnold. |
What would you like to achieve in bodybuilding long-term? |
To continue on – to take my body as far as it will go, for a long & healthy life. |
